Our Data Bodies
Our Data Bodies (ODB) is a four person (all POC) collective of organizers and reachers based in the US, UK, and SA, and we look at how big data, technology and digital innovation, and surveillance and piracy breaches function as arms of white supremacy. ODB also works in various coalitions and organizations to create community-centered resistance strategies as well as imagine more dignified futures. This is done through our chosen methodology of storytelling as research. ODB is supported by Digital Trust Foundation, The London School of Economics and Political Science, Allied Media Projects, and has been doing this work since 2016. ODB's work has been primarily based in the US, but has begun expanding coalition-building in South Africa. ODB is chiefly interested in turning away from paranoia and instead towards community power and creating knowledge by and from people who are targeted by white supremacy and its byproducts. In 2020, ODB was recognized in The New York Times as a part of their Good Tech Awards.
